A Publisher's Resource, Writer's Marketplace and Traveler's Guide
PLEASE NOTE: We will be adding new destinations weekly. We are currently populating: United States--California. Oregon and Washington will follow.
For travelers, you can discover the inside stories about the fascinating
histories and cultures of domestic and international travel destinations
before you visit. For publishers, editors of magazines, newspapers
and other media, for travel and relocation agents, this site will serve as a resource to purchase travel
stories and high-resolution photographs. And soon, freelance travel
writers will have an opportunity to post their own material with us for
potential sale to the thousands of buyers who are always looking for
great travel stories and photographs.
New Freelance Travel Writers' Sales Program
In January 2009, we will introduce our new Freelance Travel Writers'
program and begin accepting travel
stories from freelance writers wanting to sell to travel publications
everywhere. We'll be using our publisher contact list to advise editors
and publishers of new travel stories available for purchase from our
freelance writers who are part of the new program. If you are on our e-mail list for our
free Wow Principles
e-newsletter, we'll notify you as soon as we
begin accepting those freelance stories.

We're Always Looking for New Places to Discover
Our world is a
dynamic place. At
PlacesToDiscover.com
we will share with you, our fellow travelers, the hundreds of
places we visit each year as we research and write our new travel
guides. And we'll not be shy telling you about all the good and
the infrequent "bad" we run into.
Our focus, like most
of our travel books such as
Best of California's Missions, Mansions and Museums,
will be about the history and cultures of our many destinations. But we are
also outdoor enthusiasts with many years of experience traveling through
hundreds of our state and national parks--and working for a couple of
decades in California's beautiful state parks.
We will be adding new
destinations weekly, when we aren't too busy traveling. And we travel
quite a bit. So far in 2008 we've been to Costa Rica, Vietnam, Southern
California, St. Louis, Phoenix, Utah, Oregon and Washington. We've also
been to New England to shoot the fall color and research future travel
stories, and we are visiting more than 100 California Sierra foothill
wineries interviewing wine makers and winery owners for another book
scheduled for publication in fall 2009. We'll also
be returning to Oregon
to complete the research for our other travel book due out in fall 2009--Best of
Oregon and Washington's Mansions, Museums and More.
Our
initial focus for adding
destinations to
PlacesToDiscover.com will be
on the West Coast of the United States, but
with a few other national and international adventures tossed into the
mix. Periodically, we'll likely include short reviews of restaurants,
hotels, campgrounds and maybe even equipment that we as travelers find
useful such as GPS units for vehicles and digital cameras for
documenting your trips.
